Family Bibles are an unbelievable source of Family History. Go Figure.

Family Bibles were the original Family Scrapbooks ~ even before Photo Albums kept the most consistent records of family Births, Marriages, Children, and Relationships. Early Maps and Illustrations often provided the only graphic break from pure text in many early books.

The idea is to replicate (as faithfully as possible) this key family artifact ~ and share the essence of the family with often multiple children. And while there is only one original (and this will always be true) ~ there are great advantages in the capture, reproduction, navigation, and sharing (not to mention the ultimate survivability) of digital copies.

IF they’re faithfully captured, respectfully sequenced, and graphically reminiscent of the original ~ including the texture of the embossed cover and the look of the gold foil stamping.

If you don’t have time to watch ~ see the stills below ~ of the essence of the history, the graphics, the contextual maps, and the reminiscent “packaging” of these magnificent family relics.

How some of the most basic family records were often kept ~ before Facebook! “Postings” were often added via loose slips of paper or post-it notes.

As in so many Family Bibles, the graphics (sometimes COLOR graphics) are facinating to see.

Ending with what’s become a traditional angelic treatment of the spine.

Consistent with the first value of storytelling ~ is your willingness to do this for your family.

No two Bibles (like no two stories) are alike ~ especially if they were as much of a repository of family history as this one was for the Thompson Family, and as they so often tended to be.
